Gain the knowledge and skills to effectively work and communicate with a diverse range of clients and team members, and understand the legal and ethical requirements and obligations to provide care for older people. During your studies you will develop a range of practical skills including how to use mobility aids, shower and support the physical needs of your clients. Please be aware vaccinations may be an employment requirement for many healthcare providers. Students required to enter a public or private health setting will need to comply with the requirements of the provider regarding proof of vaccinations. Additional requirement for work placement include a National Police Clearance and a NDIS worker screening check.

The following learning resources, facilities and equipment are available at each campus so that you can achieve the skill and knowledge requirements of this course.

Learning resources may include access to fully equipped classrooms, Learner Guides/text books, access to Blackboard portal with current industry related materials, training and assessment plans, PowerPoints, DVD’s, videos, and industry relevant documents (policy, procedures, work instructions, individual support plans).

Facilities and equipment may include access to classrooms with printers and internet, personal protective equipment, mannequins and first aid equipment, equipment for providing personal care (hoists, wheel chairs and walking aides, bathroom facilities, beds, chairs etc) and cleaning supplies.

Resource fees are for consumables you use in your course e.g. paint, internet etc. You pay this fee to your college at enrolment. If your course goes longer than one semester, the resource fee may not need to be paid in one amount but may be spaced out over the duration of your course. Your college will advise you of the payment amount each semester.

Material fees are for items that remain your property after the course has been completed e.g. personal protective equipment, tools, text books etc. You pay this fee to your college at enrolment.

Work placement

Students are required to undertake approximately 120 hours of supervised work placement in a relevant community, home or residential care setting. This work placement helps to strengthen the skills and knowledge you have learnt during your studies in a real workplace environment. You will be supervised during your work placement by staff at the facility and your supervision and support requirements will be fully documented.

Please be aware vaccinations may be an employment requirement for many healthcare providers. Students required to enter a public or private health setting will need to comply with the requirements of the provider regarding proof of vaccinations. Additional requirement for work placement include a National Police Clearance and a NDIS worker screening check.

CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support [Ageing] - AE04
1 semester

To achieve this qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 15 units. These 15 units are comprised of 9 core units and 6 elective units as listed below. Elective units listed below have been selected in consultation with industry.

Students who enrol into this qualification will be eligible for credit transfer of the units that they have already achieved. Fees paid by international students are set on a commercial basis and are paid as a whole of course fee - no refund will apply to credit transfers. You can also progress into CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services at Murdoch and CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services at Bentley after studying CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support [Ageing] at Rockingham. In your online application, select CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support [Ageing] as a standalone course, then on the Health cover and Evidence screen note in the Comments field that you wish to progress to CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services at Murdoch and CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services at Bentley.
