Privacy

The use of the term "personal information" in this privacy statement means any information from which your identity is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained. 

This website is owned and maintained by TAFE International Western Australia (TIWA), and the Western Australian Department of Training and Workforce Development (the Department). 

TIWA does not attempt to collect personal information about you when you visit this website. You can visit this website without revealing personal information, unless you choose to provide it; for example, if you use an online form to make an enquiry and opt to provide your contact details so that we can respond. The information collected is dependant upon the actions undertaken when visiting the website. 

If personal information is provided, for example when you complete an online enquiry form via the website, it will be used only for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to a mailing list, unless explicitly stated. It will not be disclosed to any third party, without your consent. If you are asked for any other personal information you will be informed how it will be used if you choose to give it. 

Website visit data 

TIWA records each visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes: 

  • the user's server address; 
  • the user's top-level domain name (eg .gov, .com, .au, .nz etc); 
  • the type of hardware (eg; PC, smartphone etc) and the browser used to access the site; 
  • the date and time the user accessed the site; 
  • the pages accessed, links selected and files downloaded, and time spent on the site; and 
  • the referring website. 
  • your Internet Provider (IP) address and country location

This information assists TIWA to understand how the website is used and helps to keep improving information quality. It does not include any personally identifiable information. TIWA will make no attempt to identify users or their browsing activities, except where required by law. 

This website may contain links to other sites. TIWA  is not responsible for the content and/or the privacy practices of other websites and encourages you to examine each site's privacy policy and make your own decisions regarding its accuracy, reliability and the correctness of material and information found. 

Cookies 

A cookie is a piece of information delivered to and stored by your web browser when you access information from certain websites. TIWA may use cookies from time to time as an effort to improve your user experience. 

Email management —  Collection of personal information 

Your email address will only be recorded if you choose to provide it when contacting us. If provided, it will be used only for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to a mailing list, unless explicitly stated. Your email address will not be used for any other purpose, and will not be disclosed, without your consent. If you are asked for any other personal information you will be informed how it will be used if you choose to give it. 

Use of information

Email
If you have registered to receive marketing information from us, we may send additional communication such as newsletters or information about events or new courses.  Users may opt out of receiving these communications by changing their contact preferences at any time.

Your email details are stored securely and we will not disclose them to third parties without your consent unless required by law.

Financial information
If you enter financial information for example credit card details; as part of TIWA’s online application process, this information will be used solely for the purposes of payment of fees owing and will not be stored.

IP Address
We may use your IP address to identify problems with our server and for maintenance purposes only.

Online advertising
If you visit the TIWA website, you may later be presented with personalised TIWA advertisements on other websites, apps and social media channels. These retargeting ads are matched and displayed to relevant audiences based on aggregated, anonymous user data. TIWA and third party advertisers will not identify you personally, nor facilitate the merging of any personal information with nonpersonally identifiable information collected through any online advertising product or feature, unless you provide prior consent.

Third parties may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect or receive information from the TIWA website and elsewhere on the internet to provide measurement services and target TIWA ads. Google AnalyticsTM and Facebook Pixel are the cookies used to define audiences and Google AdWords, DoubleClick and Facebook are the systems used to present targeted ads. TIWA follows the Google AdWordsTM policy for personalised advertising and its (opens in a new tab)sensitive category restrictions(opens in a new tab), the DoubleClickTM Services Platform program policies(opens in a new tab) and Facebook custom audiences terms(opens in a new tab) to serve usage and interest-based advertising.

If you wish, you can block Google AnalyticsTM tracking by using Google’s currently available opt-outs(opens in a new tab) for the web. You can adjust the information you provide to third parties in Google’s ad settings(opens in a new tab) and Facebook’s privacy settings(opens in a new tab).
