About this course

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) form an integral part of any commercial building construction and have a major impact on the built environment, human comfort and energy use. If you have an interest in this industry then completing qualification is a great start to a career in this expanding industry.

During your studies you will develop a number of skills including the ability to design and implement HVAC systems using thermodynamics principles, an understanding of psychometric processes and the principles of energy management. You will have opportunities to use building information modelling software, produce engineering drawings and understand the requirements of workplace health and safety. On completion of your studies you will have all the basic fundamentals and confidence to work with a number of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems used across a number of industries.

The HVAC facilities on Carlisle campus are considered to be Western Australia’s premier centre for heating, ventilation and air conditioning studies. The purpose built facility is among the best in the southern hemisphere.

It is important to be aware that this is an engineering-based qualification and will not result in a trade qualification being issued.

You can also extend your studies by enrolling into the HVAC pathway of MEM60112 Advanced Diploma of Engineering for a further year.
