TAFE International Western Australia (TIWA) is the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) provider, for the delivery of training to international students, enrolled in a TAFE course in Western Australia. This nationally recognised course is delivered by a Western Australian TAFE college on TIWA's behalf. TIWA retains responsibility for the quality of the training and assessment delivered by the TAFE colleges and for the issue of certification documentation to students.

Channel your creativity with a career in the make-up industry with this 12 month diploma qualification. Learn the skills to become specialised Make-up Artists as well as Hair and Wig stylists for an exciting career working behind the scenes of films, television and theatre productions. This course gives you the opportunity to learn different techniques of make-up applications and special effects to create and transform performers into characters that suit movie scripts, television scripts, musicals or plays.
During your studies you will participate in many practical works inside and outside of the classroom allowing individual creativity to shine through. Part of this course will include step by step techniques for special effects and prosthetics that are important skills to master for sci-fi or action movies as well as exploring different era’s, applying facial hair and wigs, bald capping and body painting. Other skills you will learn include:
- how to apply specialist make-up effects like burns and wounds;
- creating prosthetics including foam latex application;
- styling hair, wigs and hairpieces for productions;
- creating body art; and
- how to collaborate with film crews.
The film and television industry is continuing to develop and grow rapidly with a strong demand for creative make-up artists to work with those who are like minded. Successfully completing this qualification will ensure you’re job ready to pursue your career as a creative make-up specialist.
