TAFE International Western Australia (TIWA) is the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) provider, for the delivery of training to international students, enrolled in a TAFE course in Western Australia. This nationally recognised course is delivered by a Western Australian TAFE college on TIWA's behalf. TIWA retains responsibility for the quality of the training and assessment delivered by the TAFE colleges and for the issue of certification documentation to students.

About this course

If you want to help kids thrive by providing a safe, fun, caring and stimulating environment for them to learn and grow then the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is the perfect course for you. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to manage the operation of a childcare centre to ensure that you provide a service to meet the social, emotional, physical and educational needs of infants and young children in various care settings.

You will develop the skills to be able to plan, implement and manage programs in early childhood services, in accordance with licensing, accreditation and duty of care requirements. You will also learn about ethical work practices, the legal requirements of the industry, staff supervision and the requirements to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.

During this course, you will gain extensive knowledge in advanced care routines including working with families from culturally diverse ethical backgrounds and observing and recording children's behaviour. You will also undertake a supervised work placement where you will apply all these skills and knowledge so that when you finish your studies, you will have the experience to develop strategies that will provide a healthy, safe and caring environment for children.

  • An IELTS score (Academic) of 6.0 with no band score less than 6.0 or equivalent.

  • Completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 10.

Tuition fees

If tuition fees are increased you will be required to pay the new fees as they are introduced.

You will be provided with an indicative Schedule of Fees with your Letter of Offer.

Resource fees

Resource fees are for consumables used by a student in the course of their study e.g. paint, internet use etc. This fee is paid to your college at enrolment.

If your course goes for two semesters or more, the resource fee may not need to be paid in one amount but may be spaced out over the duration of your courses. Your college will advise you of the payment amount each semester.

Material fees

​The Materials fee includes any item that remains the property of a student after the course has been completed e.g. personal protective equipment, tools, text books etc... This fee is paid to your college at enrolment.

Additional information

Students must obtain a police clearance from their home country and undergo a Working with Children Check; prior to commencing work placement.
