About this course

Progress your career in the community services sector by completing CHC42015 Certificate IV in Community Services. This course will teach you the problem solving skills needed to work with people from diverse backgrounds, so that you can make a difference to their circumstances.

You will be qualified to work within a community services framework and help plan and conduct group activities for clients, whilst implementing health promotion programs. You will also gain a range of practical skills and knowledge that will assist you to respond and intervene when critical situations arise, such as children at risk, mental health and domestic violence.

Being able to communicate and work effectively with these clients is the most important skill to possess, as you need to be able to support the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of individuals and advocate person-centered services to individuals and/or groups.

As part of this course, you will undertake a supervised or simulated work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned. You may also need to undertake role plays with actors to enrich your learning experience.

Admission requirements

  • An IELTS score (academic) of 5.5 with no band score less than 5.0 or equivalent.

  • Completion of CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services OR CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support is required for entry into this course.

  • Completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 10 is required for entry into this course at Central Regional TAFE.

Tuition fees

The fee displayed is the current tuition fee.

TIWA tuition fees are reviewed annually and can be viewed in the Schedule of Fees.

If tuition fees are increased you will be required to pay the new fees as they are introduced.

You will be provided with an indicative Schedule of Fees with your Letter of Offer.

Resource fees

Resource fees are for consumables used by a student in the course of their study e.g. paint, internet use etc. This fee is paid to your college at enrolment.

If your course goes for two semesters or more, the resource fee may not need to be paid in one amount but may be spaced out over the duration of your courses. Your college will advise you of the payment amount each semester.

Material fees

​The Materials fee includes any item that remains the property of a student after the course has been completed e.g. personal protective equipment, tools, text books etc... This fee is paid to your college at enrolment.

Additional information

Students with current knowledge and work experience in community services or health may be eligible for direct entry into the Certificate IV in Community Services at North Metropolitan TAFE. Your application will be assessed by one of TIWA's Admissions staff who will notify you if you meet eligibility requirements.
