Why choose this course?

Take off for a career in aviation industry with this qualification. On completion of this course you will be on your way to a career managing the ground operations of an airport, aircraft refuelling, customer relations, aircraft marshalling and other ground services.

Gain skills in aviation safety, airport environmental control, airline and airport operations supervision, coordinating accident and emergency procedures and identifying and responding to health, safety and security issues in the modern aviation industry. In addition learn how to communicate effectively in the airline and airport working environment, use technology and process documents, and constructively deal with customers. 

This course is delivered at South Metropolitan TAFE’s Aerospace Training Centre, located at the Jandakot Airport. You will gain valuable industry workplace exposure to airport and airline operations, as well as experience in an aviation environment within this fully equipped aircraft hangar facility. 

This course, which has been developed in partnership with the aviation industry, provides you with a professional, non-flying pathway to an exciting career in aviation.

Students who enrol into this qualification will be eligible for credit transfer of the units that they have already achieved. Fees paid by international students are set on a commercial basis and are paid as a whole of course fee - no refund will apply to credit transfers. The methods of assessment used in this course include written questioning assessments to show the student’s knowledge, projects that allow students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge, for example developing business documentation such as strategic plans, project plans and operational plans, preparing reports and practical demonstration of skills including role plays and computer based simulations which are used to demonstrate leadership, management of people performance, communications skills in meetings, decision making abilities, execution of operational plans, problem solving and making presentations to senior management.

 

These assessment strategies and evidence gathering are in accordance with the relevant training package or accreditation guidelines. Detailed Information is available in the assessment matrix, learning plans and assessment tools for each of the units of competency. Assessors use this matrix to ensure assessments, are undertaken across the duration of the course, rather than clustered together at particular times.
