With his dream to own a restaurant, Sovannarith Soy has made the switch from being a pilot in the Cambodian air force to training as a cook. Sovannarith’s ambition is to showcase Cambodian food as well as his own recipes.
Describing his experiences of training at the
South West Institute of Technology, Sovannarith said "This is a great learning environment – it's friendly and relaxed. The lecturers were very helpful and the equipment and facilities are excellent. The lifestyle here is great and gives people the chance to really enjoy their quality of life."
Sovannarith added, "I really enjoy being part of this industry because it gives me the opportunity to do a diverse range of things from cooking and trying out my own recipes to cocktail making and meeting and greeting people."
Sovannarith has completed a
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, a
Certificate IV in Hospitality and plans to complete his studies with a
Diploma of Hospitality in July next year.
