Education opportunities for
South Metropolitan TAFE students are set to broaden following the signing of an agreement with Bunka Gakuen University of Japan.
Under the newly signed agreement the two Institutes will work together to facilitate student exchange opportunities, providing South Metropolitan TAFE fashion students with an international edge.
The first exchange will see third-year fashion students from Bunka Gakuen University visit South Metropolitan TAFE in October to work alongside students and industry partners.
South Metropolitan TAFE Managing Director Jill Jamieson said the agreement was a significant step forward in establishing ongoing engagement between the two Institutes.
"It will provide students with a point of difference when it comes to pursuing their chosen career," she said.
"The program will enable a unique cross-cultural experience and access to an industry-relevant global market.
"We are pleased to be able to form an educational partnership with Bunka, a leader in Japanese fashion education, complementing South Metropolitan TAFE's strong reputation in the Western Australian fashion industry " she said.
Chief Administrative Officer and Bunka Gakuen University Board Member Mr Hajime Endo said he was honoured to have South Metropolitan TAFE as a global education partner.
"South Metropolitan TAFE's approach to vocational education and training (VET) is closely aligned with ours – an approach that is focussed on students developing job-ready skills, in close partnership with industry.
"We look forward to working together with South Metropolitan TAFE to provide cross-cultural and global learning opportunities for our young people to pursue their passion, to broaden their horizons and to realise their potential.
