Hospitality students at South Metropolitan TAFE will have the opportunity to gain a globally-recognised qualification.
South Metropolitan TAFE has gained accreditation from City & Guilds, a leading global vocational education and training organisation, for qualifications such as cooking, food preparation, patisserie and hospitality management.
Iain McDougall, General Manager of Hospitality Group Training, said having a City & Guilds qualification expands a graduate's career options.
"It’s a really useful accreditation to have as it’s an endorsement on the international stage,” he said, “meaning people that achieve this in Australia will have their qualification recognised outside of Australia and make it even easier to gain employment whilst travelling."
City & Guilds offers qualifications from a broad range of industries including building and construction, business and engineering. South Metropolitan TAFE may look to partner further with City & Guilds accreditations in future.
The first students to graduate with a City & Guilds accredited qualification from South Metropolitan TAFE are expected to finish at the end of 2015.
